Meet Gorgeous Gus

After a painful and difficult start, this tiny puppy is now recovering and learning to cope in a foster home.

Gus is an adorable German shepherd puppy who came to us at only five weeks old. One of his eyes was very badly damaged and our vet had no option but to remove it. Sadly, Gus has little or no sight in his remaining eye and can only make out limited shapes during the day; at night he is completely blind.

After a painful and difficult start, this tiny puppy is now recovering and learning to cope in a foster home.

Gus has been to an eye specialist and we’re waiting on the full results. For now, as well as lead training on the road to get used to traffic noise, he has been learning to socialise with people, other dogs and even hanging out with one of the cats.

When he is ready, we’ll find the perfect forever home for this determined and positive little guy, ideally with a big brother or sister dog to guide him as he matures.

After the very worst start in life, Gus deserves only the very best.

His surgery and aftercare has been expensive. Gus will need more care as he grows to help him learn to adapt and hone his remaining senses to enjoy a long and happy life.
