May and her saving grace

May was next to a busy road and trembling in pain when she was rescued.

May was next to a busy road and trembling in pain when she was rescued. She had a massive bite injury to her lower neck. The scar tissue was swollen and inflamed and had to be removed to prevent infection. At first, the area of exposed flesh had to be cleaned twice a week before antibiotic cream was applied.

All the while, May never showed any fear or any aggression.

In the many months it took for her to heal, May had become the most adorable, playful, happy little foal. It’s as if she knew she is now safe, that the life ahead of her will be nothing like the past. After all that May has been through, her sweet and gentle nature is all the more amazing. After such a difficult start in life, we were so happy to find our magical May the loving home she deserves.
