We are saddened to hear that ISPCA supporter and esteemed former RTÉ journalist, Charlie Bird, has passed away.

In a powerful testament to Charlie’s commitment to animal welfare, he extended his hand of friendship to the ISPCA and supported several heartwarming campaigns, spreading a vital message about responsible pet ownership. With a profound understanding of the animal welfare challenges faced by the ISPCA, Charlie passionately supported the charity to help provide a safe haven for the increasing number of abandoned animals. He said: “In embracing my dog Tiger into my life, I’ve learned the true meaning of friendship and unconditional love”.

ISPCA CEO, Dr. Cyril Sullivan said: “We were privileged that Charlie reached out to the ISPCA as his chosen animal welfare charity, in honour of his beloved dog Tiger.  Charlie was so generous and courageous, and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Claire and all the family.
